I love to do picture posts. Depending on the pictures, they’re such a neat look at a particular moment in time and nothing brings memories to life quite like a picture does.
It was a productive weekend around here. Kile got rid of a lot of stuff in the garage that was just plauging us and taking up space and being generally annoying. As he was going through some things, he found a couple of pictures laying loose (I guess?) and passed them off to me. Since we also got a scanner up and going for our laptops, I went ahead and scanned the pictures. Because you can’t have enough olde thyme photos, am I right?
Check this one out, for instance. That’s my old big wheel! And that’s me! And dang, my mom couldn’t take a centered photo to save her life, could she?
This was at Christmastime (notice the red Santa-ish craft to the right). But WHY is my face so gray? WTF? Also: lovin’ the record player way in the background there.
Who wasn’t in Girl Scouts back in the 80s? (Well, I guess you weren’t if you were a guy) Dig the “fire” happening to the left there. And my Dad’s old Fiat in the driveway.
I think this was Christmas and it was taken at my parent’s house and I’m guessing Harry is three here. And I? Look like CRAP. WTF?? No, seriously. WTF?? I’m gonna blame it on the thyroid that we didn’t know about at the time.
Whew. I’m all beat from all that time-traveling. That’s exhausting stuff. Let’s bring it back to the Present Day, shall we?
AHHH! It’s Attack of the 10 Foot Liam! And.. he’s BLURRY! (Also: Cute.)
Mah new watch! Isn’t it purty? Admit it, you’re totally jealous. I’m really digging the dark brown. It literally goes with EVERYTHING.
I’m knitting! I can knit! So far, all I seem to be able to make is this long, shapeless… thing. But you know. I’m sure it’ll be fabulous (please don’t notice my dropped stitches, it makes me self-conscious).
Ahh, now I can continue (conclude) my day with the satisfied knowledge that I’ve posted a ton of pictures that have little to do with anything. *happy sigh*

I have totally knitted a scarf with that SAME yarn. :-)
I love that it looks like the photo is of the big wheel, not of your family
I love the big wheel!!! I saw that Target has it for around $30 and thought about getting it for my littlest one. The others are all too old to use it, but oh, the memories it would bring back!!
Lovin’ those old photos! GRoovy
And yer knittin’ is grrreat! I never had the patience for knitting. The biggest thing I have is about the size of a credit card…and looks like crud. Ironic…because I sew…and (machine) quilt. So why is knitting boring to me? Dunno.
Oh and I wanted a Big Wheel too, but my mom had serious issues about givine “boy toys” to her daughter! blah…also why I never had any Legos! (mebbe if they had been *pink*?)
Moon HalloranLeadys last blog post..Thanksgiving is going to be really different this year
Hey, are you on Ravelry.com? Well, why not? You should request and invitation there, and then you can become a knitting fiend, and we can be friends (my username is MissKait). It will be glorious!
Excellent pictures, btw. I love seeing other people’s pictures from their past!
Kaits last blog post..Of Calculators and Lists
DId I see a Christmas tree in that picture of Liam? Have you broken the “no Christmas until after Thanksgiving” rule??? I’m shocked!!!
Nice old pictures, by the way.
Yes, if you join Ravelry, let me know!
For starting knits, I would just do garter stitch scarves. They are easy and will get you comfortable with knitting. They also make great TV Work.
OMG!!! The Big Wheels bring back memories as does the uncentered picture!!!
How cool to have these photo’s to look back on and laugh and cringe!!!
