Even though no one but my good buddy Michelle helped me out with my post yesterday (and she even mocked me for my choice in bows), I’d like to get ya’lls opnion on this.
My husband takes rather long showers. And rather hot showers. He says they’re longer than my showers because he shaves. I contend that sometimes I do a little bit of shaving and I also condition my hair, which means I have to let it sit on my hair a couple minutes before I rinse off. I also contend that he tends to stand under the spray and (there is no better word for it) luxuriate. Not that there’s anything really wrong with that. HOWEVER, I’ve mentioned before that our house is pretty cold here in the winter as we are loathe to pay to heat it. And a long, hot shower means a lot of steam in the room. Our bathroom isn’t separated from the rest of the bedroom by a door or anything. Unless he remembers to turn on the fan in the bathroom and/or the fan in the bedroom, the steam will invariably set off the smoke alarm. And then dogs freak out, children cry, babies wake up… it’s anarchy.
This makes him all defensive (though it does serve to get him out of the shower pretty quick). He tries to tell me that it’s because the house is so cold. However, if this were true, wouldn’t the smoke alarm go off when *I* take a shower? It’s pretty cold in the house when I take my showers. I pretty much NEVER turn on the bathroom fan or the bedroom fan. Does the steam have something AGAINST Kile? I think this is what he’d like me to think. But whenever I try to tell him that the smoke alarm goes off because he takes long, hot showers, he gets all pissy and defensive.
Because, you know, I really CARE or something. I’m not going to make him walk the plank because of it or anything. But it’s just my explanation for WHY. He takes it as a personal insult. MEN.
So what do you think? I’m totally right aren’t I? My husband is a complete nutjob, right? Thanks!
