So, yet again, I’m coming to you, my fine readers, for help. (Think there were enough commas in that sentance? I’m sure I could add a couple more…) And considering I didn’t get much help on my brainstorming post from this weekend and the fact that I didn’t make ya’ll delurk yesterday (yeah, it was Delurking Day and I so totally blew it off), I think ya’ll owe me. Plus I’m truly interested in your opinions here since I’m apparently unable to make a decision on this myself.
I’m thinking of opening a little knitting shop. I know I’m still fairly new to the craft and I still have a lot to learn. My work is perhaps not as flawless as someone else who has been doing this for years. But on the other hand, I know for things like longies (long knit pants that babies wear over a cloth diaper), that some people would appreciate being able to get them at discount prices. And while I’m still learning, I could offer my wares at a pretty decent discount. It would be great knitting experience, fun to do, a way to get some extra spending money and provide people with some lovely knitted goodies.
So my question is this: If I were to set up such a shop, how and where should I do this? Etsy? Hyena Cart (though I think HC should be mostly high-end stuff and my knitting is definitely not quite there yet)? eBay? The WAHM Wares forum on the cloth diapering message board I belong to? Set up a site here on my domain and handle it myself? This is where I’m getting tripped up. I don’t know where to set up this little shop of mine.
So any input you all can give me would be GREAT. I’m excited to do SOMETHING, you know? So let me know what you think. If you do I’ll totally give you a discount at my shop.
