Not that bad
So far, 2010 has been pretty merciful. Nothing excellent so far, but no tearing out of the hair and sobbing in a pile yet either. I take my blessings where I can get them.
Yesterday went pretty well, being the first day in almost two weeks that we had any sort of normal routine around here. In that two weeks time, Liam has become comfortable with climbing the gate into the kitchen and rooting around in the pantry and also opening the gate at the top of the stairs and playing upstairs. He did a little of that yesterday, I didn’t mind the playing upstairs but I took issue with the pantry rooting. Thankfully, he listened when I told him to get back in the living room. For the most part. And naptime was embraced and cherished by all yesterday and THAT is a wonderful thing indeed.
So really, so far, there are no complaints. A MIRACLE!
Last night we rented “The Hangover” from the Blessed Redbox and I was so right. Remember last week when I mentioned that we saw “Funny People” and it wasn’t that great and that we should have gotten “The Hangover” instead? I WAS SO RIGHT. “The Hangover” is seven different kinds of awesome. If you haven’t seen it yet, get thee to a Redbox and get it. If you have, then HIGHFIVE because that movie rocks. We both enjoyed it immensely. I might watch it again during naptime (since Kile forgot to take it with him this morning to return on his way to work), I liked it THAT MUCH. There were parts that were SO WRONG but it was still the most hilarious thing I’ve seen in weeks. So yay for that!
There you have it. 2010 doesn’t suck so far and a dvd recommendation. That’s all I got.
Happy New Year!
I didn’t post yesterday because, as you can see if you’re not too lazy to click over from your RSS readers, I was busy whipping my blog design into shape. And this time, I think we’ve BOTH won. I love the look. I think there are a few tweaks left to do to make things just so. But this is a great start. What better way to celebrate a fresh start than a fresh blog design?
And so it is 2010. The last decade is officially behind us. And, can I just say, THANK GOD? Oh sure, plenty of lovely things transpired in the last decade. But lots of horrible things also transpired. And the whole 10 years was pretty much just one gigantic struggle, pock-marked with angst and suffering. I, for one, am well over it. Let’s move on!
My resolutions from last year didn’t aim high and I didn’t try very hard to meet them. I’m impressed that I got any of them accomplished at all, actually. But this year, I think I have some great resolutions. Doable without being too easy, you know? A good variety. Wanna hear em? Too bad. Here they are anyhow:
- Be a better blogger. If I can’t post at least once a week, then this is a total fail. I would like to get back to posting every day. Even if it’s just a paragraph or two. Or even just a picture. I gotta do this one.
- Get my knitting business under control. I’ve got some good plans for getting this done, including selling custom slots and STICKING TO IT. That means not piling on extras until I’m all
and crazy and pulling my hair out. I’d also like to have time to knit things for myself, my family and my own daughter for a change. - Be happier. I’m not 100% sure how I’ll get this done, but I have a feeling some “mind over matter” is going to have to come into play.
- Be healthier. I’d like to get over my hangups and take better care of my health. I have a number of issues that need to be looked after. I have TWELVE months to accomplish this. Don’t let me down, self.
- Continue to try to get into shape. I’ve done pretty good with my “diet” of sorts, but I could really stand to be more active. I want to keep it up and maybe start walking more or SOMETHING.
- Clear out some of the junk around here. It’s starting to get absurd, the level of crap in this house. It’s time to sell/donate/trash stuff.
And there you have it. Do you have any resolutions this year?
