I just love Fridays. While they’re still part of the week and generally contain just as much drudgery as a Tuesday, they hold the promise of “relief”. If you can just make it to five o’clock, you have two whole days ahead of you that provide a well-needed break from the everyday routine. All day long I thrill at the thought that the WEEK IS OVER. Can I get an Amen?
I want to thank everyone for their responses on my panicked Disney post. You guys have some REALLY good advice! I think I learned some useful tips that I’m going to try. I even think I’ve figured out the stroller dilemma. I think we’re going to buy one or two umbrella/lightweight/compact fold strollers that have at least a decent sun canopy and a good recline and then buy the connectors so we can turn two strollers into one double stroller if needed. I think that’ll work best and then we’ll have the strollers to use here at home too. While renting in Orlando was a good choice, I think having a stroller(s) in the airports and on the cruise will be INVALUABLE. So that’s that. We’re going to go down to Babies r’ Us this weekend and give a few a “test drive”. What we find there will determine whether we buy one or two. We have a lightweight stroller here that we could use, but it doesn’t recline so if we find the right stroller for the right price, we’ll get two.
We’re still working out the other issues, but I feel more informed now and less panicked. So that is AWESOME. THANK YOU. I’ll send you all postcards. Heh.
Also, thanks for the commisseration on the mail man frustration. I’m both happy to know I’m not the only one and horrified that I’m not the only one who has experienced such shoddy service. I swear, if it was going to be an enormous pain in the arse, I’d totally switch to UPS for packages or something. Damn the post office.
After not getting any mail at ALL on Wednesday (I think it was Wednesday?), the mail came much earlier on Thursday. And while it wasn’t AS early yesterday, it did come before 5pm AND the mailman actually took a package up to my door! SHOCKER! Now if he’d just do that every time, life would be good. I don’t ask for much, people. I just want my mail in a timely manner and packages delivered. Totally not an unreasonable request.
I don’t know exactly what our plans are for the weekend but I suspect there will be a goodly amount of grocery shopping (it’s that time of the month, after all). I also imagine there might be a trip to the drive in, though the new X-men movie pales in comparison to Iron-man which is what we saw last year this very weekend. My parents are coming up for a couple days on Sunday so that’s something too. Which means that there will be a goodly amount of cleaning done here this weekend as well. JOY. Luckily, the living room was recently cleaned (including the carpets which were Filthy), and the kitchen is rather bearable so the job shouldn’t be too enormous.
Gosh. You know, when I type all that out, it sounds completely, 100%, DULL. I sure hope your weekends are a lot more interesting than mine.
This has been a rough week, hasn’t it? I don’t know about you all, but I feel drained. My psyche is exhausted.
I’m ready for some good news.
Who’s with me?
The good news, I guess, is that today is Friday. I wish that because Sunday is a holiday that we had a three day weekend to enjoy but… not so much. Harry does have a half day today and Spring Break next week. But that’s not quite what was I was hoping for. What it does mean is days on end where Harry is alternately bored, playing Rockband, wanting to play with my laptop and complaining about Sesame Street on the TV. Happy, happy, joy, joy.
On the roster for today: making Easter themed chocolate chip cookies (yum) and perhaps dying eggs later on tonight. I used to love dying eggs when I was a kid. Now I find it tedious. What the heck, Adult Self? You’re such a lamewad.
Am charmed by Evie giggling at Abbie Cadabby on Sesame Street. I just had to interject that. I may just eat that little girl. Liam is not as charmed by Sesame Street, at least at the moment. He’s too busy with his nefarious plans. I’m not sure what those plans are but I’m pretty certain they’re nefarious. Just wait till Word World comes on. That kid loves himself some Dog and Sheep and Ant and Duck and Pig.
Anyhow. Where was I?
Oh yes. The end of the week. Anyone have any fun/special plans for the weekend? Anyone getting dressed up on Sunday? I have some cute stuff for the kids to wear. Myself? I think I forgot that part. Whoops. Of COURSE there will be pictures. What do you take me for?
Happy Friday, ya’ll. Go have a beer. You’ve earned it.
While Monday might have it’s “Hate List” (I’ve not forgotten that! Expect to see a new Hate List soon!), Friday is a day that inspires joy and happiness and (most often) relief. It stands to reason Friday would be a day to celebrate just what is GREAT, praise the good and share the love. Am I right? So let’s feel the love, shall we? Because, people, it’s FRIDAY!! (Woot woot!)
- How well my boys are playing together. Sure, they’re rough and they make me cringe with all the crashing around the living room (this is mostly on Harry’s part as he is now roughly the size of Bigfoot), but Liam laughs his fool head off and he’s been taking great naps as a result. Let’s hear it for brotherly love!
- Goodmama diapers. I have to admit to being a little on the obsessed side with these yummy diapers (bet you thought you’d never hear that phrase, huh?). I’m nowhere near as obsessed as some (I only have three of them to date), but I’m constantly scheming on how I’m going to acquire more. LOVE THEM.
- Evie’s appetite. While in the middle of the night it’s not nice to constantly have to roll over and feed her, it’s nice that she’s so much more into eating solids than Liam was. She was practically GIDDY when I was feeding her Country Garden Vegetables last night. SERIOUSLY!
- Kile’s work camera. I guess I never considered that there are some point-and-shoot cameras that have a lot of the DSLR features but for a lot cheaper. The new contributor over at PW’s Photography blog first clued me in to it. And see that Kile’s work camera costs about what we paid for MY point-and-shoot camera over three years ago? Makes me think that might be my best bet for a new camera. Now the question is… do I stay with Sony or do I try another brand?
I keep thinking of things that are annoying me instead of things that are making me happy. Heh. I guess I really AM ready for another Hate List! In the meantime, enjoy my list and share with me a little of what is making you happy today. Maybe I’ll feel inspired to expand my love!
